Do You Say, Baby to Bebe?

I totally love the culture of Louisiana, and this is one of the main reasons that I chose to read, The Scars We Choose. But when I read the line, “Come ‘ere,⠀bebe,” I could hear Ms. Pinkie Perideaux, a character in this novel, saying “bebe” in her Haitian Creole accent.⠀If you are familiar with the Bayou State, then you know what I am talking about.
